About BotBuilder.co.uk
BotBuilder.co.uk was started by Steve Carpenter (me), a UK robotics enthusiast in 2009. I have been building robots since I was 4 years old, and was introduced to robotics at an early age at school. Using the Jessop's Turtle and BBC Buggy robots in Primary and Secondary school, I soon became intrigued with the electronics and mechanics that make robots work.
I have always been a keen technologist, throughout my school years I invented countless gadgets and won awards for them. I then went onto study Product Design & maufacture and Graphic Design at University. I managed to gain 2 prestigious awards from the Royal Society of Arts for my graphic and technical projects.
My robot tinkering had a resurgence about 2 years ago when I had a pile of surplas servos. I designed robot arms, roving camera bots and foam firing turrets. I put the results on YouTube (videos below), and got inundated with people asking how they were built, can they have plans or could they buy them.
A natural progresssion saw the birth of Botbuilder.co.uk. In additition I am available for design and consulting work, check the
BotDesign section. I have designed and constructed robots, electronics and mechanics for art installations, displays, educational robots etc...
I am aiming to create robot chassis, and platforms that allow you to experiment with. The kits are aimed at hobbyists, educators and study groups. BotBuilder kits are lovingly manufactured in the UK using the latest laser and CAD technology.
